My Favorite Mom Songs

Buckle your seat belts and get ready to laugh. When I'm having one of those "I wish I wasn't a Mom" days, I play one of the following songs, sing at the top of my lungs - and I feel so much better!

This song is a parody to "The William Tell Overture." If you want the lyrics so you can sing along, let me know and I'll email them to you.

The next parody is called "The Mommy Rhapsody." Click here and Enjoy!

Michael Plays the Guitar?

So Michael came home from BYU with a new talent - he can play the guitar! One of his roommates (or maybe more than one) owns a guitar, and Michael decided to teach himself to play in his spare time (which he had a lot of last semester). When he tells me of his new hobby, I'm thinking, ok he can strum a few chords - no big deal, I learned how to do that, too as a freshman at BYU. But, no! He's picking out notes! When I praise his ability, he tells me that anybody can pick up the guitar - yeah, right! Just like anyone can prove the quadratic formula, piece of cake! So I caught Michael on tape and wanted to share. He didn't like the attention - just humoring mom, but I still think it's impressive :)

This is him playing "If" by Bread. Love those jeans? :)

He has other songs in his repertoire: "Everything" by Michael Buble, "Diary" by Bread, etc. I asked him to learn "More Than Words" by Extreme and he rocked it in just a matter of days! Check it out: (Megan helped with the vocals) Can you imagine how good it would sound if they were trying to impress their audience? :)

Our Family Cruise - A Dream Come True!

After 2 cruises with Greg on Carnival Cruise line, I have always wanted to take a family cruise. I decided that Royal Caribbean Cruise line had the best equipped ships for our age range. We chose the "Liberty of the Seas" because of the rock wall, ice skating rink, miniature golf course, and the "Flow Rider" - a surfboard simulator. I picked a week long "Eastern Caribbean" cruise that included stops in St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, and Haiti. The kids slept in a room next door to us in bunk beds. We had a fantastic time! The food was amazing! We are a very adventurous family when it comes to food. We decided ahead of time that we were going to try everything! Who knew that we would love escargot! We even ordered seconds! Needless to say, we each brought home a few extra pounds (except Jeffrey, who ironically ate us all under the table) but it was well worth the lobster, prime rib, key lime pie, flan, shrimp, etc.

It was so nice to get away from the day to day responsibilities, and just let go of the stress and worries and enjoy the family in a paradise setting.

Here is just a taste of what we experienced:

Megan's New Bedroom

On to the next post! This is fun! Megan has been dying to have her room painted since we moved to Georgia almost 6 years ago. Now, those of you who know us can understand our panic of the mere mention. Greg and I are definitely not "home improvement" minded. The way the house comes, is how it stays. Well, we decided to go for it - with our good friends Jared (the reincarnated Tim the Tool Man Taylor) and Genevieve (very crafty and a "do it yourself" kind of gal) consulting on the side. Megan settled on "sky blue" for the walls and "sun yellow" for the accents. We even attempted a magnetic wall! (Mainly due to the amount of mud it took to fill in all the holes that Megan made with nails and push pins.)

I added the finishing touches with decals and curtains.........Voila!

I have to say that I am pretty proud of the curtains and tiebacks. I made the tiebacks from the leftover beads over the doorway. It took me a lot of sweat and tears to get it just right, but I did it!

Megan's room is now the funnest room in the house! (If she keeps it clean.) Nick is now jealous. I told him to let me know when he comes up with his theme........

I'm going to get this Blog up and going even if it kills me!

I have so much to share, I just have to learn my way around blogspot. So please be patient as I learn from trial and error. I have many things I want to share: family pictures, a cruise, Megan's new bedroom, Michael playing the guitar, etc. My goal by the end of the summer is to have this program mastered! Wish me luck!

Let's start with our most recent photo shoot. I finally booked a shoot with a very talented photographer, Clairissa. I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer, because she is moving to Texas! For those in the Dallas area, click here to check out her work.
